Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. – Colossians 3:16

What We Believe

King of Kings is a Lutheran church. To be Lutheran is to believe that God’s love for us is unearned (Grace alone), that this love is a gift to all who believe the Gospel of Jesus (Faith alone), and that the Gospel of Jesus, along with all Christian teaching, is found in the Bible (Scripture alone).

Grace Alone

God is good. People are not. But rather than condemning the world for evil (sin), and leaving us to suffer its effects (death), God has loved the world. He gave us His Son, Jesus, to suffer judgment and death in our place.  And He calls all people everywhere to turn away from the sin in our hearts, and receive His gift of a new, and eternal, life. We call this salvation.

Faith Alone

If salvation is so great, then it should cost us something. What is the price we should pay for an eternal, blessed life?  If we gave away every dollar, every minute, and every ounce of energy, could we ever be certain that God judges us as “good?” We know that everyone has greed and selfishness in our hearts. No matter how many good things we do, we cannot erase the evil (sin) in our lives.

God gives us the power to believe this impossibly great promise: when Jesus died on the cross, our sin died there with Him.  And when He rose from the dead, we received His goodness.

Scripture Alone

We have received this good news (Gospel) of Jesus from other people, and we seek to share it with others still.  In order to make sure that we have heard the true message, and that we are faithfully spreading the truth, we rely on the written testimony of the saints who served God and who knew Jesus personally. These writings are collected in the Bible.
